Thursday, February 14, 1924 pg. 1 TREE PLANTING AT CANAAN SATURDAY The citizens of the Canaan community will meet at Canaan next Saturday morning at 8 o'clock for the purpose of planting trees and shrubbery about the church and school buildings. Those taking the lead in the movement hope to have a sufficient number of ment and women on the ground at an early hour to have the work completed by noon. Native trees and shrubbery will be put out. The women will select the shrubbery and "boss" the men who will do the work. The church yard and school campus at Canaan consist of about 2 acres of ground, and can be made into a beauty spot with shade trees and shrubs. Everybody in that community ought to lend their assistance to the movement, and see t hat a nice bunch of trees are planted about the buildings. Other community churches and should profit by Canaan's example - even those in Whitewright. It requires a little time and a little effort to beautify any place, but it is worth it.
