Wednesday, August 15, 1917 pg. 4 Fiftieth Anniversary Addition WHAT THE WOMEN ARE DOING Second Generation On last Friday Miss Annie Lorraine Dennis was graduated with high honors from the stenographic department of the Sherman Business College. Professor H.A. Ivy, the founder and president of the school, says he takes especial pride in the delivery of this diploma. There is a reason. Some twenty years ago the first lady pupil entered the Sherman Business College, then just organizing. Her name then was Maude Bernard. She, quickly became one of the most proficient lady stenographers the school has ever turned out, and assisted in teaching stenography for quite a time until a man named Dennis prevailed upon her to change her name and become queen of his heart and home. In the passing of the years their oldest daughter, Annie Lorraine, after finishing the course offered by Sherman High School, was directed by her mother to the Sherman Business College for a course of stenographic training, which she has just completed - and found her services in demand even before she was graduated. Professor Ivy says that if twenty-five years hence he may have the pleasure of delivering a diploma to the third generation of this family along with a class of 100, he will be ready to rest on his laurels and trust the destiny of the Sherman Business College to other hands.
