...The board then proceeded to the election of superintendent and teachers for the ensuing scholastic year:

Superintendent, William Gay
Principals, Misses Minnie Marsh, Dulah Harris, Jennie Jackson, Lillian Dain, Ida Shreeves, A.S. Arnold

Teachers - Misses Walker, McKnight, Dickerson, Bacon, Cartwright, Ryan, Hanna, McConnell, Swarts, Kimbrough, Rice, Johnson, Mimnaugh, Close, Gilmore, Young, Williams, Schott, Wingrove, Bird and Wilson.
Misses Berniece Wood and Maud Bickel were not candidates for re-election.

Three vacancies at the disposal of the board were filled by the election of Misses Olive Clifford and Nona Goodwin of Denison, and Miss Lizzie McCarty of Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania.  Miss Clifford taught here 2 years ago and resigned to take a normal course at the Peabody Institute of Nashville, Tennessee, where she now is.  Miss Goodwin is a graduate of the high school, class of 1895.  Miss Lizzie McCarty is a non-resident and a daughter of Pete McCarty, a Katy engineer.  As previously stated she resides in Pennsylvania and is qualified for teaching by a thorough normal course in one of the institutions of that state.

The folowing substitutes were also elected:
Misses Rachel Goldenberg, Elsie Whitley, Henrietta Johnson and Mrs. D.D. Johnson.

COLORED SCHOOLS
E.H. Garland, Principal
Teachers, D.W. Walton, Mrs. E. Thompson, Misses Reed, Shaw and Warnell; substitute, Miss Mary Walker.

The following janitors were elected: T.H. Cregier, J.R. Berry, J.B. Shaw, Mrs. Hocking, Ed Weaver and H.M. Moore; for colored schools, Ben McKnight and R.C. Mott, both colored.

Salaries of teachers are fixed at the same amounts paid last year except in the following cases:
Teachers now receiving $40 per month were advanced to $42, except Miss Mimnaugh who will receive $50; teachers now receiving $42 were advanced to $45.  The salaries of the new teachers, Misses Clifford, Goodwin and McCarty were fixed as follows:
Miss Goodwin, $40
Miss McCarty, $45
Miss Clifford, $48
