Buck Creek School was located between Gunter and Tioga, in the southern part of Grayson County.
The
school was named for a stream, located between Gunter and Tioga, and one mile south of Kimberlin
Ranch.
It
was a one-teacher school where, during its last years, coal was used
for heating, and drinking water was pumped by hand from a well in the
schoolyard.
Some
families living in the community during the 1930s were the Barr,
Mullens, Bates, Thomas, Henry, Vaughn, and Scharff families.
Among the last teachers were Edna Monroe and Gladys Barr. |
