  Bryant
Elementary School was built in 1902 on land donated by concerned
citizens. The school was located at 401 N. Woods and named in
honor of the late Judge David E. Bryant. In 1936, and
auditorium and two classrooms were added
to the building. The lower floor was used for special education classes in 1958-1959. The remaining spaces was for elementary classes. During the late 1960s, the building was used as an annex for Sherman High School which was housed in the present Piner Junior High School building located on the southwest corner of Pecan St. and Rusk St. Bryant Elementary school closed in 1970 with the opening of the new high school complex in East Sherman. Some classes were reassigned to other schools. The school building was sold. Standing empty for a number of years, the building was razed. In 1980, the First National Bank was constructed on the old school site.
