  The Whitewright Sun Thursday, August 13, 1970 pg. 1 Obie Rutledge, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Obie Rutledge, has been hired by Bells School System as the Elementary School prinicpal. Rutledge will replace Joe Mays, who is reported going into private business. Rutledge, 32, graduated from Whitewright High School. He attended Texas Tech and graduated from East Texas State University. He holds a BA and an MA degree in agriculture and science and is working on his PhD, attending summer sessions. Rutledge also holds an administrative certificate and has 11 years teaching experience in Plainview and Denison. Mrs. Rutledge is the former Miss Frances Russell of Sedalia. She is attending Southwestern at Durant. Mr. and Mrs. Rutledge will move to Bells in the near future.
