DENISON

YEARS AGO

So far the proposition to give to Austin college the use of our school building to bring the institution here meets with the general and hearty endorsement of our citizens.  Some few opposed the donation of the building, but when it was explained that Dr. Luckett had stated at the meeting Tuesday that the trustees did not ask or wish a deed to the property, only a lease so long as they might choose to use it for the purpose specified and that the property should revert back to the city if the college was removed to another point, these persons gave the proposition their approval.
The securing of this college here is of paramount importance.  It will result in making Denison, beyond question, the first educational city in the state.  This is a male school, a female seminary is sure to follow and Catholics are just as certain to establish a school here also.
If our proposition is accepted and the Austin College comes here, it's advent will be one of the brightest eras in our city's history.
Prof. Clark opens his business college in this city today.  Ladies and gentlemen can attend this institution.  There will also be a night school for the benefit of those who cannot spare the time to attend during the day.
