CITY ORDERS TWO LOTS PURCHASED FOR STRUCTURE
First Action on School Building Taken by City; School Costs $17,000

Denison purchased 2 lots for the construction of another Negro school building in the city, it was revealed following a meeting of city officials Tuesday afternoon at the city hall.  The sale of the land was completed last week, but it was not until this week that the purchase was made public.
The 2 plots will be 150' by 150' at the corner of Johnson street and Mirick avenue, the present site of the Taborian hall, and will be cleared for the new Anderson school to be erected through the recent PWA grant and city bond issue.  The lots were a portion of the R.D. Bierne estate and Mattie Woods property.
Officials decided to move the location of the school with the rebuilding, inasmuch as they considered the new plot would be more beneficial to the colored section.  The new structure will cost approximately $17,000, the ground included.  The old building which houses the students is too old for further use and has been in need of extensive repairs for some years.
