Wednesday, August 15, 1917 pg. 28 Fiftieth Anniversary Edition Ex-Confederate Missourians Hold Reunion Here Pursuant to a call of the committee of arrangements, the Ex-Confederate Missourians met at the courthouse in Sherman on Thursday evening, February 15, 1882. Col. J.V. Cockrell was called to the chair and M.J.B. Young of Bonham elected secretary. Jesse P. Loving, secretary of the Old Settlers' Association of Grayson County, stated that it was thought desirable to have a joint reunion of the two associations in August next, and ask that this association take the necessary steps therefor. On motion of W.H. Trollinger, the following committee was appointed to confer with a committee of the Old Settlers to see whether or not it could be arranged for a joint meeting on the 10 and 11 of August next: H.N. Tuck, Dr. G.S. Staples, Dr. W.H. Trollinger, J.E. Adams, W.A. Wells. Col. J.V. Cockrell was added to the committee. The following committee of invitation were appointed: Dr. I.N. Holder, M.J.B. Young of Bonham, Capt. Wm. Merritt of McKinney, Dr. W.H. Trollinger, and J.V. Cockrell. The Sherman Courier and all other papers friendly to the association were requested to copy these proceedings. Meeting then adjourned to meet with Old Settlers committee in Sherman on March 4, 1882. M.J.B.
