17 July 1913 City's Humane Society Officer Finds Chicken Coops Crowded Special Officer John Moore, who represents the Sherman Humane Society, made an inspection of all places in the city today where live chickens are handled and at several places had the fowls watered and other places also had a number of fowls taken out of crowded coops and given more room. He also went after several people who are in the habit of riding their horses at a fast gate through the sun and gave them warning that here after all horses must be treated humanely in Sherman.
