The German Evangelical Church Denison, Texas ca 1895 The
German Evangelical Church was built at the northwest corner of
Armstrong Avenue and Owings Street in 1889 under Earnest A. Yeack, who
had started the work a year earlier at 422 West Sears Street.
The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, October 13, 1889 Contractor J. Louden, who will build the new German Evangelical church, corner of Armstrong avenue and Owings street, states that he will have the edifice ready for occupation by the latter part of November.
In 1892, George Hauser replaced Yeack. Gideon Bartlett was in charge of
Sunday programs, which were taught in German. In 1894, the church became the German Lutheran Church for the next
fourteen years. The building was closed in 1905.
