Sunday, December 24, 1893 pg. 1 CHRISTMAS IN DENISON How the Date is to be Celebrated by Churches, Societies, and Individuals WOODARD STREET METHODIST CHURCH An old-fashioned Christmas tree will be the Christmas event at the Methodist Episcopal church, corner of Woodard street and Fannin avenue. Mr. Warren J. Elliott, the superintendent of the Sunday School, has been so busy this week at his store that the work of getting up the presents and the tree in general has devolved upon the Sunday School teachers and the committees appointed for that purpose. J.H. Barton, secretary; Miss Cora Reanch, organist; and S.C. O'Dair, treasurer, have all been at work this week getting funds and arranging the evening's program. Mrs. A.P. Mastin, Mrs. Pollard, Miss Pappenhagen, Miss Walker and other of the church and Sunday School are lending assistance. The tree will be loaded with fruits, candies, toys, cornucopias and such things, and a real Santa Claus will call out the names of the children, while pages will deliver the presents.
