St. Benedict Catholic Church St. Benedict Catholic Church for African Americans was established by Father Vincent Kelleher. This brought the number of Catholic churches in Denison to three, counting St. Patrick’s and St. Joseph’s. St. Benedict served Denison for almost two decades before it was closed. The beautiful church building, which still stands at 708–710 West Elm Street, then was purchased by Quinn Chapel AME Church, which built its new building next door and converted St. Benedict into a parsonage.
