Riverside Presbyterian Church The First Presbyterian Church of
Whitesboro organized a mission church in the Delaware Bend Community
with church services being held in the summer months in brush arbors
for years. In the late 1800s, the congregation began to meet
in the newly built Riverside schoolhouse.
In the 1940s, land was being prepared for the building of Lake Texoma. The Riverside School building was purchased, moved to Whitesboro, and converted into a private residence on East Main Street. Most of the members of the church had sold their homes because of the building of Lake Texoma and relocated. The church was disbanded. by Peggy Fox Source: Churches & Communities of Northwest Grayson County by Grayson County Frontier Village pg.22 Churches Susan Hawkins © 2024 |
