 Basin Springs Community Mineral
Baptist Church was organized on New Year's Day 1860 in the home of
Richard Chaney with eleven charter members. J. D. Elder, the twelfth
charter member, joined by transfer of membership on that day.
J. D. Elder was an ordained minister and was chosen as the first
pastor of the church, serving for the next seventeen years. Other ministers who served the Mineral Baptist Church were: Rev. Charles Cox Rev. J. K. P. Williams Dr. W. T. Miller Rev. H. M. Cagle J. T. Moore Rev. Carl Green Rev. Carrol F.
