The M.E. Church, South
The church was founded in April, 1881 by Rev. A.J. Worley, who served the congregation up to August following, the membership having increased to fifty-one persons.  Since that time Revs. T.L. Miller, C.J. McWhirter and R.S. Gorsline have been assigned to this station, in the order in which they are named.
Last November the annual conference was strongly petitioned by the members of this Church to send Rev. A.J. Worley (the founder) to this charge.  The petition was received favorably, and Mr. Worley commenced his work at once, and is now closing the eclesiastical year which seems to have been favorable to the cause for which he labored, as the membership of the church has been increased to the number of about seventy members.  The church building is a very good one, and in a manner finished.  During the past year a comfortable parsonage was erected, and is now finished, with the exception of painting.  The church has a membership of 176, and a Sunday School with an enrollment membership of 150.
