Methodist Church Whitewright, Texas Methodist Parsonage 314 W. Maple Street The
Methodist congregation built the parsonage in 1890. The Woman's
Missionary Society of the Methodist church held their meetings at the
parsonage. (The Whitewright Sun,
Friday, September 9, 1919). In 1918 the Methodist stewards
met at the church and a committee was appointed to build a garage on
the parsonage premises for the use of the pastor's Ford (Rev. C.C.
Childress). (The Whitewright Sun, Friday, November 22, 1918, pg.5&7) The parsonage was moved across the street in 1935 and was owned by the Pumphrey family. Later owners were Jess Blanton, John Pumphrey, Mardell Pumphrey, and Barry Wheeler.
