Methodist Church
Whitewright, Texas

A building program was launched in 1942 and a new education building was begun. A. Murray Bryant was chairman of a committee composed of Glen Earnheart, Jim Waggoner, F. M. Echols, R. P. Childress. The Rev. Woodrow Adcock was pastor and Jim Simmons of Sherman was contractor. Repairs on the inside of the old church began in 1943. Memorial windows were installed. The Hammond Electric organ was given to the Church by the Women's League of Christian Service in honor of the late Mrs. Columbia B. Bryant.
The still existing parsonage was built in the 1920s. The old one was a frame house and was moved across the street and to the west several lots. A tennis court was built in the 1920s where the Education Building now stands. Air-conditioning was added in 1949-50. The Rev. Ashley D. Jameson was pastor.
That same year, the Chimes were placed in memory of B. B. and Mattie Kimbell by flour merchant, Kay Kimbell. Brass communion plates were given in memory of Roscoe Gillet in 1966. He has served as church secretary-treasurer for 50 years. A new red carpet was added in 1970.
In 1976, the 1895 Church still stands in beautiful condition. The Rev. Mr. Bob Bryan is serving his third year as pastor.
