In 1885 the preacher in charge was W. M. Robbins and the presiding elder was J. M. Binkley. Mr. Robbins had five churches to minister to. His charge was Whitewright, Centennial, Marvin, Porters and Orangeville. His salary for the year was $325.
The first Sunday School was organized in 1885. That year the minister was paid $600.
In 1886, Mr. Miller, the minister, appointed a sufficient number of ladies to raise such money as may be necessary for the cause of missions.
Prayer meetings (also called clap meetings) were held weekly. In 1887 there were 60 in Sunday School and the secretary recorded: "The children attend all services better than the the parents . . "
It was also in the records that money was in hand to build a parsonage. It consisted of "three nice rooms and a front gallery . . . last week was a "donation party." The ladies were to buy bedsteads, stoves, chairs. The church had 234 members.
By 1889, the Whitewright church is completely out of debt, was furnished with pulpit, chancel railing, communion table, three pulpit chairs, carpets, 250 chairs, organ and bell.
