July 27, 1933 pg. 7 BETHEL NEGRO IN HOSPITAL AFTER CUTTING SCRAPE Vernie Potts, negro, is in St. Vincent's Sanitarium, Sherman, in a critical condition, and another negro, Alvin Ford is in the Grayson County jail as a result of a cutting scrape at the Bethel negro settlement 2 miles southwest of Bells Saturday night. Potts was severely cut in the abdomen with a long bladed knife. Ford, 26 years old, is an ex-convict of the Texas penitentiary.
