FIRST ASSEMBLY PLANS NEW HOME
After being located for 34 years at 630 West Morgan, the First Assembly of God Church is looking ahead, perhaps a year from now, to a new  home in a  new location.
Land has been purchased at 1710  South Woodlawn for the new church, and plans have been drawn for the structure.  The pastor, Rev. Richard Peterson, heads the building committee.  Rev. Richardson has been here nearly 2 years.
The church dates back to 1928, when P.W. Shaver, an independent minister, held a revival here and later formed an independent church at 806 West Munson.
Two years later the church joined the Assembly of God group with national headquarters in Springfield, Missouri.  Later purchasing a lot at 630 West Morgan.
The building was moved to the present site at 630 West Morgan in 1938.   Three years later the new church was started and was ready to use within 6 months.
The pastor heads the church board that includes Nade Atkins, Mike McNeillis, Vernon Smith, Tommy Miller, and Jack Ward.
