CORNER STONE LAID
The corner stone of the Christian Church, corner of Armstrong avenue and Crawford street, was laid on Tuesday afternoon with Masonic ceremonies in the presence of a large assemblage of citizens.  The Masons marched to the scene of the ceremonies, headed by the Denison Band and followed by a general throng of citizens in carriages and on foot.  The ceremonies were conducted by Judge S.A. Gilbert on behalf of the Grand Lodge, and an address appropriate to the occasion was read by W.M. Peck, W.M.  The band discoursed music, the glee club sang and prayer, congratulation and eloquence were indulged in for about an hour and a half after which the exercises were declared over and the crowd dispersed.
Besides the Masons, there were present in regalia, the Odd Fellows, Carpenter's Union, Ladies' Branch of Order of Iron Hall and pretty much all the ministers in the city.  The Christians will have a nice church when it is built and they certainly did themselves credit in their corner stone exercises.

DEDICATION SERVICES
The dedication of the Christian Church was held Sunday, Mary 4, 1890 with three services held through out the day.  Although the auditorium was the largest in the city, there wasn't enough room for the crowds that attended.  At the morning service held at 11 a.m. Rev.  F.M. Rains of Topeka, Kansas preached the dedicatory sermon while a large choir rendered a musical program.  At the 3 p.m. a congratulatory service was held with nearly all ministers of reform denominations participated in which they congratulated the pastor and congregation upon the building and completion of a beautiful edifice and which beautified the city.  At the 8 p.m. service preaching and song service were held with Gen. Gano of Dallas delivering the sermon.  (The Sunday Gazetteer, Sunday, May 11, 1890, pg.3
