First Baptist Church Denison, Texas The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, May 20, 1883 gp. 1 OUR CYCLONE The Baptist Church, a frame structure east of the school building, just across the street, was evidently in the direct path of the storm, as it was crushed to the earth and utterly destroyed. Minutes August 9, 1883 "...The trustees with the building committee has secured a suitable site upon which to build a church house." The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September 27, 1885 pg. 1 THE BAPTIST CHURCH The First Baptist Church of Denison was commenced in June 1884, and was completed in February of the present year, and dedicated in March, following. The cost of the building, with seating and gas fixtures, amounted to $3,300. The lots were purchased at a cost of $1,450. The church now has about eighty members and is said to be in avery good condition in every respect. The Sunday School flourishes with about ninety attendanats, and W.H. Robert, Jr., superintendent. As was mentioned in our last issue Rev. W.E. Tynes, of Fort Worth, is the chosen pastor for the ensuing year.
