Billy, although he preferred to be called Bill, was born into a family of 6 children. He often joked that his mom and dad didn't give him a name until he was 5 years old. He had a happy childhood living with his family, who were farmers. He often had to help with the chores at home. His older brother, Harold, died in World War II. His dad, Marvin E. died after an accident in 1965. He had a younger brother, Beady, who had cerebral palsy and mentally retarded who died in 1973. His brother Bud, and his mother, Pearlie Mae Ladd Thompson, also preceded him in death. His sisters, Margaruite and Lois,
are still living. He was beloved by all and best known for his storytelling. He loved to tell stories of his youth, which always would make us laugh. He loved to make people laugh. He never complained, but always made the most of whatever life dealt him. He was a Christian and he talked the talk, but more importantly he walked the walk. He was always ready with a smile and a helping hand for his family, friends, and neighbors. Even In the last few weeks of his life he was mowing the neighbors yards because they were "elderly". He volunteered to help the needy of the community through the church of Christ. He was always ready with a smile and a helping hand. His legacy is that he was kind hearted, loving, giving and compassionate to others. He and his wife, Jewel, married 52 years, were inseparable. During their lifetime together they produced 4 children, who then gave them 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He will forever be missed and we long
to see him again in eternity.
