October 12, 2011 B.A. Strickland Jr., age 76, of Pottsboro, passed away on October 9, 2011 at Dallas Veterans Hospital. Visitation will be at Dannel Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m., at Friendship Cemetery of Sherman. B.A. was born Nov. 6, 1934 in Windom, Texas to Ben Ausmus Strickland and Etha Gladys (Jones) Strickland. He attended Paris, Texas schools. He was in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean conflict, and was awarded " The National Defense Service Medal." He also served in the National Guard for 8 years. B.A. married Geneva Dobbs on May 19, 1956 in Durant, Oklahoma and they enjoyed 57 years together, raised four children, and created great memories. They lived in Dallas for many years before moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming. While living in Cheyenne, B.A. and Geneva owned Woody's Truck Stop, Inc. After retirement B.A. and Geneva lived in Pottsboro for 23 years. B.A. was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived his wife Geneva of Pottsboro; son Bill Ausmus Strickland and wife Mary Jane of Cheyenne, WY.; daughters Mary Ann Biddix of Daytona Beach, FL., Kathryn Cheatham and husband Gary of Savoy, TX. and Sharon Lynn Grimm of Cheyenne, WY.; grandchildren Alexander Charles Mawford and wife Anjolee of Sherman, TX., Brian Biddix, Chris Biddix and Leroy Biddix, all of Daytona Beach, FL., Jennifer Peppers and husband Ryan of Bonham, TX.; great-grandchildren, Alexa Jolee Mawford of Sherman, TX., Avery Stiles Coker, Ashton and Aydan Balvin all of Bonham, TX.
