September 2, 1942 Bert S. Phink, 42, War Veteran Dies Sherman, Texas, Sept 1, Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at the Friendship Church west of Sherman for Bert S. Phink, 42, World War I veteran, who served on three fronts overseas. Mr. Phink died Sunday night in the Veterans Hospital at Waco. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Phink, a former resident of Sherman, Enlisted at the age of 17 in the 111th Supply Train, 36th Division. He was gassed during the war and the last seven years had been a patient at the Veterans Hospital. After leaving Sherman in 1916, he lived at Denton and Forth Worth. Survivors include two brothers, C.G. Phink, Kennevale and a sister, Mrs. O.H. Little , Fort Worth.
