G. W. Payne 1843 - 1922 Georgia Payne 1839 - 1910 Sherman Daily Democrat
Thursday, March 23, 1922 pg. 4, 5 PIONEER CITIZEN OF SADLER COMMUNITY DEAD J.W. Payne [sic], 72 years old, died at the home of his son, Dave Payne in Sadler Monday evening. Mrs. Payne was a pioneer citizen of Grayson county and had made his home in Sadler for many years. Surviving are 3 sons, Dave Payne and J.O. Payne of Sadler; one step-son W.C. Gamble; and a daughter, Mrs. W.T. Wilson of Sherman. His wife died in 1910. Mr. Payne was a man of many friends and was a concentrated worker in the church. Funeral services took place from the home of Dave Payne in Sadler Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Jap Manton of Central Prebyterian church, burial being in Friendship cemtery. There was a large and beautiful floral offering.
