SHERMAN - Memorial services for Jackie "Jack" E. Jackson will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Sherman. Private family burial services at Friendship Cemetery will precede the memorial service. Services will be conducted by Dr. Mike Lawson, Pastor of First Baptist Church, and are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson, 81, was healed at his passing on August 20, 2012.

Jack was born January 2, 1931, in Big Spring, Texas to Roy and LaVerne (McGregor) Jackson. Jack grew up in Glen Rose and DeLeon, where his high school friends, known as the "Bush Gang," continued to have reunions until the last few years. At a young age, Jack accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by his father, R.E. Jackson, a bi-vocational pastor. Jack graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Howard Payne University and a Master's Degree from the SMU School of Banking. He married Mary Louise Turner, his "Little Jewel," on June 27, 1953, and they recently celebrated their fifth-ninth anniversary. Jack was a Vice President at Merchants' and Planters' Bank for 25 years. Upon retirement, Jack formed J. Jackson Enterprises, Motor Cars LTD. and Westridge Development. He enjoyed collecting pocket watches and clocks, walking his dogs, playing dominoes, and reading western novels, especially those by Louis L'Amour.

He was predeceased by his parents and two first cousins, Joan Pluskey and Benny Davis. He is survived by his wife Mary of Sherman; daughter, Debra Jackson of Waco; son, Tim Jackson of Sherman; as well as cousins, D'Ann Henderson (Pat), Mark Pluskey, Gloria Davis, Amy Davis Rose (Bart), Sarah Davis Deats (Greg); brothers-in-law, Douglas Turner and Ray Turner (Betty); sisters-in-law, Eva Nell Kimler Jackson (Gene), Edith Day, and cousin-in-law, Algerine Noblett, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jack's priorities were his family and First Baptist Church of Sherman, where he was a member since 1966 and a long-time deacon. In addition to his church, Jack supported mission efforts, Buckner Benevolence and the Christian Children's Fund. He was a former member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors and a past president of Sherman Kiwanis Club.

The family is especially grateful to Dr. J. Michael Benson, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ, and IHS, Sherman, for the care and concern extended to Jack in recent months.

Memorials may be made to the Grand Piano Fund, established in Jack's memory, at First Baptist Church, 400 S. Travis, Sherman, TX 75090.

Jack's family will receive friends at a reception at the church immediately following the services.
