Wanda Jean Howard, 70, passed from this life Monday, November 10, 2014, at her home, after a long battle with cancer.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 12th, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13th, at Dannel Funeral Chapel with Jon Smith, of Wood Street Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterward in Friendship Cemetery.

Wanda was born July 20, 1944, in Dallas, Texas to Paul and Mary Louise Langford. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1962 and received her degree in Long Term Health Care from McLennan College in Waco. Most of her career
was spent in the health care field as a nursing home administrator. She was an active member of Woods St. Church of Christ, and was church secretary for seventeen years. Wanda married Dwight Howard February 14, 1980.

Preceded in death by her parents and one step-son, Steven Dwight Howard, Wanda is survived by her husband Dwight; daughter, Shannon Dominquez and husband Carlos of Mexico; sons Eric Franklin of Fort Worth, Scott Franklin of Dallas; step-sons Rick Howard and wife Kim of Ector, Michael Howard and wife Jana of Sadler; sister Donna Walker and husband Larry of Sherman; brothers James (Bubba) Langford, Douglas and his wife Terri of Sherman, and Tommy and his wife Terrie of Southmayd; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
One of Wanda's greatest pleasures was having large family gatherings at her home. Keeping family close was very important to her. Her favorite, and best, place to be was 'together'. Over the years, she and Dwight enjoyed traveling to many places, including a road-trip to Alaska.

Wanda's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Guardian Hospice, with special thanks to Toni Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be greatly appreciated to Guardian Hospice at 614 N. Travis St. in Sherman, TX, 75090.
