April 29, 2012 Thelma Dalton Hoover, 90, passed away at The Homestead of Collinsville in the early morning of Friday, April 27, 2012. Services will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church in Sherman on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. Rev. Billy Wilder will officiate. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery following services. The family will receive visitors and friends at Dannel Funeral Home on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thelma was born on October 7, 1921 in Gunter to Lee Wilson and Ocie Mae Adams Wilson. She attended schools in the Plainview community. On November 5, 1942 Thelma married Roy W. Dalton in Sherman. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1976. The Daltons had three daughters and one son together. Later in 1979 she married Hoyte Hoover who preceded her in death. For fourteen years before retirement she was employed at Wilson N. Jones (now known as Texas Health Presbyterian) where she worked in Environmental Services. Thelma took pride in her work and had an upbeat attitude, often trying to cheer patients when she entered their rooms. She had an excellent work ethic, from hand-picking cotton at an early age, to working at her father's service station (where she met Roy), to working alongside Roy in farming and raising their children, who she took great pride in. After retiring from working at WNJ (where she met Hoyte), they enjoyed gardening and traveling, and a few flea markets. After retirement she began collecting dolls and continued to add to her collection through the years. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Roy W. Dalton and Hoyte Hoover, son, Jerry Dalton, brothers T.H. Wilson and Jimmy Wilson. Surviving family members are daughters, Lois Norman and husband Mike of Collinsville, Carolyn Waldrum and husband Art of Sherman, Norma Giarraputo and husband Tony of Sherman; brother, Curtis Wilson and wife Willie of Sherman; and a sister, Dorothy Ireland and husband Pete of Whitesboro; six grandchildren, Tonya Norman of Florida, Tamyra Mohon of Collinsville, Janna Dalton of Wichita Falls, Amy Brooks and husband Beau of Waxahachie, Daniel Waldrum and wife Jami of Sherman, Sara Waldrum of Sherman, and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews. If desired, memorials may be made to Friendship UMC Building Fund, 293 Friendship Road, Sherman, TX 75092 or Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W.
