October 3, 1968 page 12 Timmons Christian Abicht, 65, a life-long resident of the Sherman area, died early Thursday in a Sherman hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Key Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Graves conducting, assisted by Rev. Michael Daves of Prairie Heights United Methodist Church and Rev. William Slack Jr. of the United Methodist Church of The Good Shepherd in Arlington. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of the Dannel and Son Funeral Home. Born on a farm west of Sherman Oct. 12, 1902, Mr. Abicht was the son of George W. and Addie Grudier Abicht. He was married Nov. 6, 1923, to the former Anna Lee Peoples. He was a member of the Key Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the board of stewards and was a member of the choir. He was a former choir director and Sunday School Superintendent of Friendship Methodist Church where he was also active in the Friendship Cemetery Association. He was a member of Travis Lodge 117 AF&AM, and was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife of 1509 Shields; one daughter Mrs. Don Shadden of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Mrs. A. P. Kumler and Mrs. John Dalton, both of Sherman; and three grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home Friday evening and at other times they will be at the residence, 1509 Shields. Memorials may be made to the Perpetual Care Fund at Friendship Cemetery. Herald Democrat

A5 Services for Anna Lee Abicht, 98, who died Saturday, September 13, 2003, in Whitesboro, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Friendship United Methodist Church. Reverend Charles Hahn of the church and he niece, Mary Lois O'Neal will officiate. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Abicht was born September 16, 1904, just east of Van Alstyne. She was the daughter of James Bryan Peoples and Ida E. McGinnis Peoples. She attended Black Bridge Country School in Sherman and married Tim Abicht, who died October 3, 1968. On August 12, 1978, she married Horace Abicht, who died February 28, 1996. For many years, Mrs. Abicht was an active member of Key Memorial United Church, was once president of the Christian Homemakers Class, a member of the Lydia Gray United Methodist Women's Group, president of the United Methodist Women, and long-time member of the choir. She was also a member of the Board of Stewards at Key Memorial Methodist church. She was an officer for the Friendship Cemetery Association and, with her husband Tim Abicht, began the Perpetual Care Fund for the cemetery.
