Galen Caddell, 88, of Sherman, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2019, in Plano. Services were held Saturday morning, January 19, 2019 in the chapel at First Baptist Church in Sherman. Dr. Mike Lawson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sherman, officiated. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Galen was born August 8, 1930 in Petrolia, Texas, son of Bazzie Levi Caddell and Laura Walker Caddell. He married Patsy Wallis on January 14, 1951 in Borger, Texas. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served at Ft. Meade, Maryland. A graduate of North Texas State University, Galen worked for the Phillips Petroleum Co. before becoming an agent with State Farm Insurance. In 1968 the family moved from Borger to Sherman where he was the Agency Manager with State Farm for Northeastern Texas until his retirement in 1995. Galen, known as "Grandad" by his grandchildren, was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to play golf courses around the world. Most memorable was playing the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. He was a long-time member of the Sherman Rotary Club, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow, and the Life Underwriters Association. He served in leadership positions in both and was a 2-term president of the United Way of Grayson Co. Galen loved to travel with his beloved wife, Pat, and had the opportunity to travel the world with her by his side. He cherished times spent with her, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was caring for and loving his wife, Pat, who preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by his four sons, Tym Caddell and wife, Becky, of Bulverde, Texas; Kevin Caddell and wife, Lana, of McKinney, Texas; Bron Caddell and husband, Marcus, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Kelly Caddell and wife, Jennifer, of Plano, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Grandsons Joshua Caddell, Andrew Caddell, Bobby Sutton, Myles Caddell, Jeremy Caddell and Zachary Caddell served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Reynolds, James Shields, Jerry Easter, Mike Barnes, and Lyle Lacy. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Cemetery Association, c/o Patsy Stephens, P.O.
