Sherman - Funeral services for Norman Neal Nash were held Monday afternoon, November 5, 2018 at the First Baptist church of Sherman. Dr. Mike Lawson officiated. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery with Ronald Ray, Michael Ray, Andrew Henderson, Gus Wingfield, Mike Coulter, and Tom Thomas serving as pallbearers. His grandson, Slaton and Spencer were honorary pallbeares. Mr. Nash, 92, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center. Norman was born May 31, 1926 in Antoine, Arkansas, son of Theron and Eula Wingfield Nash. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. On October 14, 1950 he and Betty Ray were married in Prescott, Arkansas. Mr. Nash retired from Texas Instruments after 36 years and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman. Norman had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and the conservation of nature. He was an avid bird hunter and raised many bird dogs over the years. Until the age of 89, he enjoyed competing in field trials with his dogs and credited those activities for "keeping him young." Mr. Nash is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty, of Sherman; son, Nathan Nash and wife, Melissa, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two grandsons, Slaton and Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hubert Nash; and sister, Marie Dixon. Memorials may be made to the Preserving the Legacy Fund at First Baptist Church of Sherman, 400 S.
