  Sherman - Graveside services for Louis Oal Groner were held Thursday morning, April 8, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn if attending. Mr. Groner, 81, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Homestead of Sherman. Louis was born April 19, 1939 in Sherman, son of Oal and Inez (Smith) Groner. He attended Southmayd schools and after training as an electrician and computer technician, Louis worked for Texas Instruments and S and A Systems in Dallas before going to work for the Texas Department of Transportation. Returning to Grayson County, Louis enjoyed working cattle on the land where he was raised. He was known for his generosity and dry wit before Alzheimer's took its toll. On December 25, 1982 he and Carol Porte were married in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Groner is survived by his wife; son, Matthew; daughter-in-law, Ann; grandson, Liam; daughter, Mysti NeKuza; sister-in-law, Mary Groner; 3 nephews, Chandler, Spencer, and Brent Strawn; and niece, Ruth Ann Landino. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda; brothers, Wade and Harold Groner; first wife, Elcyon Clore; and son, Mark. Memorials may be made to the Friendship United Methodist Church.
