CONDENSED HOME NEWS
Enoch  E. Whetsel, an engineer on the Katy, was killed last Sunday at Coal Creek, I.T.  There was a hot box on the engine tender and Whetsel stepped to the gangway to examine it.  It is presumed that he was struck by the bridge.  His body was found in  the bed of the creek and he must have fallen a distance of about 35 feet head foremost.
Whetsel came to Texas from Missouri about 12 years ago and located in Denison.   Shortly after his arrival here he secured a position as fireman on the Katy.  A few years later he was promoted to engineer and given a freight run on the Choctaw division between Denison and Muskogee.
He leaves a wife and 2 children to mourn his untimely end.
Deceased was 37 years,  4 months and 17 days of age.  He was a member of B. of L.E. No. 568 and A.O.U.W. Lodge No. 8.  He carried $1000 insurance in the latter and $3000 in the former.
