Joyce Ann Spencer, 70, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Mrs. Spencer was born March 1, 1947 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of Carl and Lula Cox Roberts. She married the love of her life, David Allen Spencer, Sr. on June 27, 1970. Joyce worked at Johnson & Johnson for 35 years before retiring. She enjoyed camping, bowling, crocheting and she loved to travel. The great joys of her life were her family, especially her grandchildren, dear friends, and her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Spencer leaves behind her beloved family: husband of 47 years; sons, David Spencer, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; Daniel Spencer of Sherman, Texas; Woody Spencer and wife, Kathy, of Denison, Texas; and Michael Spencer of Denison, Texas; 8 grandchildren: Jay Spencer; Mikka Spencer; Michael Spencer, Jr.; Damen Spencer; David Spencer, III; Keaton Spencer; Felicia Deever and Serena Spencer; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Maynard "Butch" Robert and wife, Joanne, of Denison, Texas; and sister, Sue Baker of Denison, Texas. Funeral service for Mrs. Spence were held Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Grissom officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery. David Allen Spencer Sr., 82, entered eternal life, Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Mr. Spencer was born August 6, 1938 in Sherman, Texas the son of Mary (Browning) and William Spencer Sr. He graduated from Sherman High School and attended Grayson County College. He met and married the love of his life, Joyce Ann on June 27, 1970. David was a machinist for Johnson & Johnson for over 35 years. He could fix just about anything that was broke. David was known for his blunt honestly. He was a wise and devoted husband and father. He was a true mentor to his sons, setting an example of a hard but caring father. What many saw as tough was actually his way of preparing his sons for real life. He also was a loving grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Spencer leaves behind his beloved family, sons, David Spencer Jr., Daniel Spencer, Woody Spencer, Michael Spencer Sr., grandchildren, David Spencer lll, Keaton Spencer, Felicia Deever, Serena Spencer, Ira Spencer, Mikka Spencer, Michael Spencer Jr., Damen Spencer, and Keesha, brothers, Jerry Spencer, William Spencer Jr., Paul Spencer and sister, Laura Dell Spencer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Ann Spencer, parents, brothers, William C. Spencer, Donald Spencer, and sister, Linda White. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends will gather to visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
