The Sunday Gazetteer, Denison, Texas 3-25-1900:
MRS. MORRISON DEAD. Mrs. Morrison, who cast her lot with Denison in the seventies, died last Saturday night at her home on West Main street. The deceased had been in delicate health for some time, but no one expected that the end was so near. At the time of death she was fifty-seven years of age. The public will recollect the deceased better as Mrs. Morrison, on account of the prominence of her husband, Dr. Alex W. Morrison. She was married four times. Her husband, Mr. Shaffer, survives her, but there was a separation about three years ago. She leaves two children, Will Elser** and Mrs. J. S. Leslie, a resident of Waco, Texas. The deceased had a large circle of friends who were greatly attached to her. Especially was this true of her neighbors, who expressed profound sorrow when her peaceful and beautiful life was ended. Her motherly nature found expression in her love for and devotion to her family, and her thousand little acts of kindness to those who were her neighbors will rise up in after years as a benediction to bless her memory. At the time of death deceased was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and the pastor, Rev. Liles, conducted the services and paid the farewell tribute to her memory. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors, the interment being at Fairview cemetery. ---- H1: John "Jack" Esler H2: Thomas Canniford, m. 1879, Grayson Co, Tex. H3: Dr. Alex H.
