In Memory of Adine Kershner (Hoover) Powell November 19, 1915 - August 26, 2017 Obituary It is with great sadness that the family of Adine (Hoover) Kershner Powell announces her passing on August 26, 2017.
Born in Honey Grove, TX on November 19, 1915, to Leslie Mae (Holder) and John Charles Hoover, Adine is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Laverne Kershner, second husband Benson Powell and siblings Georgia Hudson, Luella Hoover, Lillie Patricia Reynolds, Ruby Mask, R.B. Hoover, Pauline Shelton, J.W. Hoover and Ora Mae Chapman. She is survived by brother William Hoover from San Diego, CA and her large family of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Adine loved to travel and spent time living in Texas, Oklahoma, California, and New Mexico. Together with her first husband, she owned a nursery where she put her green thumb skills to work. A shrewd business-woman before her time, she invested in residential properties and later became a landlord. Family and church were important to her. She was a long-standing member of First Christian Church in Denison who used her time and resources to help those in need. Adine made the best divinity candy in the South and played a wicked hand of Skip-Bo cards. All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace and caring nature. The family will be welcoming friends for visitation at Bratcher Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, from 1:00-2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31, at 2:00 pm at the Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
