  Don entered his eternal home on May 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born September 7, 1949, in San Jose California to Una Belle Frith and John Henry Newsom. Don later moved to Texas, he joined the United States Air Force on August 8, 1968, where he proudly served for four years, three of them in Korea. Afterwards, he returned to Texas and followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a roofer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, which was the most important thing to him. He was a kind and loving man that would help anyone in need. Don is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Sharon, Ellen, and Julie, also by his infant daughter, Sherry Lynn. He is survived by his son, Joe Don Newsom and wife Kacey, granddaughter Ashten Newsom and fianc, Salim Prado, grandson, Hunter Newsom and wife Izzy; granddaughter Jayme Watson and partner Austin Meinecke, great-grandchildren, Benson Newsom, Creed Prado, Brittyn Newsom, Ryder Newsom, and Ava’rie Meinecke and sister, Carolyn Tracy. Graveside services will be held to celebrate his life June 2, 2023, 1:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas.
