Mrs. Mamie E. Moorman, 53, wife of T.H. Moorman and resident of the Layne community 24 years, died today at 1:25 a.m. at a local hospital, following an illness of 2 weeks, all of which were spent at the hospital.
Deceased was born in Howard county, Arkansas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Cox, February 2, 1887.  She married Mr. Moorman at Dodd City, Texas, October 22, 1905 and the couple later took up residence at Bonham, moving to the Layne community a few years later.  Mrs. Moorman was a member of the First Baptist church.
Surviving are her husband; 4 sons, J.C. of Durant, Mississippi; Carl of Gladewater; Dan of Mount Pleasant; and Billie Joe of Denison; 2 daughters, Mrs. Glenn Smith and Mrs. J.W. Shearer of Gladewater; 3 brothers, R.S. Cox of Irving, Texas; M.A.
Cox of Long Beach, California; and E.B. Cox of Fountania, California; 2 sisters, Mrs. W.S. Nance of Nash, Texas; and Mrs. C.H. Daugherty of Ravenna.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday from Short-Murray chapel.  Rev. J.F. Murrell officiating.  Interment will be directed by Short-Murray.
