Bobby McCartney 87, of Van Alstyne, Texas passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020. He was born on August 24, 1933 in San Saba Texas to William and Ida McCartney.
He served 2 years in the US Army. He was a Research and Development Engineer for Texas Instruments in Richardson Texas for 30 years. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, listening to Gospel music and most of all watching his grandkids sporting events. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anna.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Sutton McCartney of Van Alstyne Texas, Sons Danny McCartney and wife Patti of Van Alstyne Texas, Larry McCartney and wife Debbie of Collinsville Texas, Mike McCartney and wife Dona of Celina Texas, and Kirby McCartney and wife Ealon of Gunter Texas, Twin Sister Betty Phelps of Athens Texas and 9 grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Garrell, LV, Connie, Duke, Willie Ray, and Jack. Sisters Opal, Mineola, Velma, and Mildred. His granddaughter Tana McCartney and Great-granddaughter Madison Sharrock.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Van Alstyne Cemetery, Van Alstyne Texas. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Alstyne Texas.
