RETIRED MSGT GERALD GENE MCBRIDE TOOK UP HIS EARTHLY HOME ON MARCH
22,1935 AND ENTERED INTO ETERNAL REST IN HIS HOME IN HEAVEN ON JUNE
28,2021 AT HOME WESLEY VILLAGE RETIREMENT ASSISTANT LIVING WITH
ALICE, HIS WIFE OF 65 YRS BY HIS SIDE. HE WAS THE SON OF ALBERT AND
SARAH ( DUKE ) MCBRIDE.
SGT MCBRIDE ATTENDED VARIOUS SCHOOLS IN OKLA., TEXAS, NM AS HIS PARENTS SOUGHT MEANS OF SUPPORTING THEIR FAMILY OF 11 CHILDREN. IN 1953 HIS PARENTS PURCHASED A SMALL RANCH NEAR COLEMAN OK. WHERE HE ATTENDED AND GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND MET THE LOVE OF HIS HEART AND SOUL MATE ALICE ( TINCY ) TIDWELL. ON DEC.24,1954 MR. MCBRIDE ENLISTED IN THE USAF AND AFTER BASIC TRAINING AT LACKLAND AF BASE SAN ANTONIO TX HE WAS ASSIGNED DUTY AT FRANCES E. WARREN AF BASE IN CHEYENNE WY. IN 1955. IN AUG. OF THAT YEAR HE TOOK LEAVE TO VISIT HIS PARENTS AND ALSO TO MARRY HIS LOVE.THEY WERE MARRIED IN MIAMI OK ON AUG 8,1955.AND OF THIS UNION GOD BLESSED THEIR HOME WITH 4 CHILDREN, RICHIE, STEVEN, MONTE AND TROY. DURING HIS MILITARY SERVICE HIS ASSIGNMENTS SENT HIM TO MOST OF THE UNITED STATES AND MANY FORIGEN COUNTRIES, GERMANY, ICELAND, PHILIPPIANS, KOREAN AND VIETNAM WHERE HE WAS EXPOSED TO WHAT IS KNOWN AS AGENT ORANGE WHICH WAS LATER TO BE DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF HIS DEATH. DURING HIS MILITARY SERVICE HE WAS AWARDED MANY AWARDS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE, WORK ETHICS AND ACCOMMODATION MEDALS. HE WROTE TRAINING MANUALS USED FOR TRAINING IN THE AERO GROUND SPACE ENGINEERING OF THE AIR FORCE. WHILE STATIONED AT RANDOLPH AFB UNIVERSAL CITY TX, SGT MCBRIDE RETIRED WITH HONORS AFTER ACTIVELY SERVING HIS COUNTRY IN THE USAF FOR 24 YRS ON OCT. 31,1978. HE BEGAN WORKING FOR THE US POSTAL SERVICE IN SEPT. 1988 RETIRING WITH HONORS OCT.31,1999. HE AND HIS WIFE TOOK A MONTH ROAD TRIP BEFORE HE BEGAN WORKING FOR FRED PILKILTON DODGE IN DENISON TX. HE WORKED THERE FOR 16 YRS BEFORE FINALLY RETIRING AT THE AGE OF 80 YRS. THE NEXT YRS. WERE SPENT TRAVELING SEEING THE BEAUTY OF THE MANY PLACES THEY HADN'T SEEN WHILE BEING IN THE MILITARY. HIS HEALTH BEGAN TO FAIL AND IN SEPT. 2018 THEY MOVED INTO WESLEY VILLAGE RETIREMENT IN DENISON TX WHICH BECAME HIS HOME ON EARTH UNTIL GOD TOOK HIM TO HIS HOME IN HEAVEN JUNE 28,2021. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, 9 SIBLINGS. SISTERS, GOLDIE, LUCILLE, HAZEL, JEWEL AND BETTY AND BROTHERS RICHARD, ROSCOE AND RAYMOND. AND MANY NEPHEWS AND NIECES. THOSE REMAINING TO CHERISH MEMORIES OF HIM ARE HIS WIFE OF 65 YRS, ALICE, OF THE HOME, SONS, RETIRED ARMY CHAPLAIN MAJ. RICHIE AND WIFE, PAT OF CROSSVILLE, TN, RETIRED NAVY SR. CHIEF PETTY OFFICER STEVEN AND WIFE, SONJA OF PORT ST. LUCIE FL, US AIR FORCE SGT, VETERAN MONTE AND WIFE, CARLA OF DENISON TX AND US AIR FORCE SENIOR AIRMAN VETERAN TROY MCBRIDE AND PARTNER, TONY OF DES MOINES IA, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, KRISTEN PUZA AND HUSBAND, RICH, HUNTSVILLE AL, KRISTA MILLER AND HUSBAND, CARLTON , MYRTLE BEACH SC, SARA MCBRIDE DENISON. AND ONE GREAT GRANDCHILD, MEELA PUZA HUNTSVILLE AL; BROTHERS, EARL AND WIFE PATSY OF EUFAULA, AL AND OSCAR MCBRIDE OF DURANT,OK ; AND MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS. THE FAMILY WISHES TO THANK THE TENDER LOVING CARE GIVEN TO OUR LOVED ONE BY CONCORD HOSPICE OF FRISCO TX AND THE STAFF OF WESLEY VILLAGE ASSISTANT LIVING. TRULY THEY WERE GOD'S ANGELS CARING FOR OUR LOVED ONE. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS THE FAMILY WISHES FOR YOU TO DONATE TO THE MANY NEEDED CHARITIES OF YOUR CHOICE. FAMILY NIGHT IS 5-7 PM THURSDAY JULY 1 AT FISHER FUNERAL HOME DENISON. SERVICES ARE 10:00 AM FRIDAY PARKSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH DENISON TX. BURIAL WITH FULL MILITARY HONOR WILL BE AT FAIRVIEW CEMETERY DENISON TX. ARRANGEMENTS ARE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF FISHER FUNERAL HOME IN DENISON.
