CHAS. CHAPMAN, LOCAL PRINTER, DIES TODAY
Charles Whitwell Chapman, pioneer citizen of Denison residing at 809 W. Sears St., died at noon today following the illness that had its origin 4 years ago.  Sunday he suffered a stroke of paralysis resulting in his death.
Deceased had been in Denison more than 60 years.  He was born in Washington, Indiana during the Civil War and received his early schooling at Peoria, Illinois.
Mr. Chapman has been in the newspaper business in Denison, Sherman and Gainesville for a number of years.  With his father and brother they freighted the first newspaper from Sherman to Gainesville.  He started the Daily Evening Journal here and followed this with the publishing for years of the Church News.
At the time of the beginning of his illness, 4 years ago, he wa in the job printing business at 105 S. Rusk avenue.  Mr. Chapman has been a prominent figure in the affairs of Denison for more than 50 years and was one of the committee that drafted the first charter for this city.  He is past president of the Trade's Council, and the local P:rinter's Union.  He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Deceased is survived by one son, Frank Eugene Chapman, of Florida; and 2 daughters, Miss Mary Etta of Denison and
Mrs. Marguerite Newton of Santella, California.

Funeral services were held from the Short-Murray chapel Sunday afternoon, Rev. J.S. Hodges officating.  Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Short-Murray funeral directors in charge of arrangements.
