Sheryl D. Allen 20 April 1945 - 9 December 2016 Sheryl Dean (Mead) Allen (1945 - 2016) Sheryl
D. Allen, born April 20, 1945, passed peacefully on December 9, 2016 at
her longtime home in Denison following a brief illness. Visitation will
be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Bratcher
Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December
15, 2016, at Parkside Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Canton and Dr. Roy
Spore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Allen
was a kind hearted lady who loved people and her job. She taught 2nd
grade Sunday school for 45 years at Parkside Baptist Church and was a
special education paraprofessional with the Denison School District for
35 years. She began her ministry to others and her professional career
as a deaf education interpreter, carrying that love for helping others
into the deaf ministry at her church, where she also interpreted. That
love for others and making the world a better place also showed in her
life as she attended many mission trips with the Parkside Builders
helping people locally as well as across the United States. Mrs. Allen
loved working with her hands
to cook for her family and to knit. In her spare time, she could often be seen with anywhere from 2 to 4 needles in her hand working on various projects. Sheryl Allen was a woman of great faith, and her legacy of love and service will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by a great number of people. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Allen of the home, sons Kenneth R. Allen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James A. Allen and wife Stormy of Southmaid, Texas, Robert E. Allen of Sherman, Texas, Steven M. Allen and wife Angela of Sherman, Texas; daughter Mary E. Creech and husband Robert of Pottsboro, Texas; brothers Bill Mead and wife Maria of El Paso, Texas, Gary Mead and wife Irene of Baker City, Oregon; sister Alice Trevano of Austin, Texas; and six grandchildren.
