James Stanley Lynch, 91, passed peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, June 16, 2017 after spending the prior evening enjoying the company of family and friends at his home in Denison, Texas.
Stan, who was born May 22, 1926 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, son of James Ray Lynch and Cletus Oz Dobson Lynch was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Virginia Duncan, sons, James Keith Lynch and David Lee Lynch; grandson, Cameron Taylor Russey; stepson, Gary Dale Bergquist; and step-granddaughter, Ami Denise Langston. Stan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marguerite Hagood Lynch; daughters, Linda Karen Flowers and Mary Ellen Russey of Sherman, Texas; son, Michael Alan Lynch also of Sherman, Texas; step-daughters, Judy Ann Foster of Denison, and Linda Jean Bennett of College Station, Texas; step-sons, David Edwin Bergquist of Cedar Hill, Texas and Karl Gordon Bergquist of Indianapolis, Indiana. At the time of his passing, Stan had 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 23 step-grandchildren; 64 step-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren and brother, Lyndon Lynch of Cheney, Washington. Stan was a World War II Navy veteran who served in Gilbert and Marshall Islands in the South Pacific as a seaplane mechanic. Stan was anxious to serve his country and had to get special permission to join the military at the tender age of 17. Stan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many responsible positions in the Church including the office of Bishop. He had a positive and lasting effect on the lives of his fellow church members and his family. Stan loved his family and expressed great joy to have so many of them around him in the days and weeks before he passed. Stan was a good humble man who tried, to the best of his ability, to pattern his life after the life of the Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sherman, Texas. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
