Tom Henslee began this life on July 19, 1929 in Sherman, TX. He stepped into eternal life on August 22, 2018. Tom met the love of his life, Joan Derryberry in October of 1951. They were married in Sherman, TX on October 9th. The honeymoon lasted almost 67 years.
Tom served in the U. S. Army during the Korean war. Tom and Joan owned and operated Henslee Asphalt Pavers for 32 years. He served as a long-time Deacon at Hyde Park Baptist Church. Tom and Joan had two children, Dorinda Henslee Martin and her husband, Jim from Austin and Tom M. Henslee from Denison. His real pride and joy were his 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Reynolds, Ashley Reynolds Nolan, John Ryan Henslee and Katelyn Henslee Hewgley. The affection was definitely mutual as they referred to Tom as “The John Wayne of all Paw Paw’s”.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church of Denison.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tom's grandsons and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Calvary Baptist Church, and will be appreciated.
