Monday, February 27, 1922 pg 3 DR. E. R. BURCH OF DENISON DIES OF PNEUMONIA Was Father of Mrs. Reed Markham of Sherman - Burial Tuesday P.M. Denison, Texas., Feb 27 - Dr. E. R. Birch, born July 16 1850, at Covington, Indiana, died this morning at his home, 600 West Chestnut street, at 11:30 o'clock, from pneumonia, and other complications. He had been ill for about a month and became seriously ill about ten days ago. He is the son of Jesse and Martha Wood Birch, and was reared in Bloomington, Ill, and educated at Wesleyan College of that city. He received his medical training at Miami College at Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1876 he married Miss Kate Young at Covington, and she died in Denison six years ago. He began his practice in Stateline, Ind., and came to Denison in 1887 where he has practiced the medical profession continuously since then. He was a member of the Waples Memorial Methodist Church, a Mason, life long member of the Hella Temple, Mystic Shrine, at Dallas, and a member of the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Reed Markham of Sherman, and one sister, Mrs. F. M. Joyce of Minneapolis, Minn. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence and burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The services will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Hearon of Denison and Rev. C. A.
