May 31, 2010 DENISON - Felma Joye Holliday, 82, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Visitation for Mrs. Holliday will be from 6 -7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 601 W. Woodard St., Denison, with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 1501 S.H. 91 North, Denison. Pallbearers will be Jack Lilley, Ron Cunningham, Jerry Easter, John Smithen, Al Brown, Jr. and Wayne Delaney. Felma was born on April 10, 1928 in Waco, the daughter of Rola and Pearl Goff Terrell. She graduated from Waxahachie High School and attended Mary Hardin Baylor. She married Wilburn Holliday of Ft. Worth on Oct. 18, 1946 in Waxahachie. She worked for Dr. John C. Saunders and Rice-Phillips Insurance, before retiring in 1983. She was a life member of Texas PTA, a member of First Baptist Church in Denison since 1967 and CLC volunteer pianist. She lived in Ft. Worth from 1946 -1962, before moving to Denison. While in Ft. Worth, she attended Southwest Seminary to learn the art of chalk drawing. She was active in PTA in Ft. Worth schools and was part-time secretary for FWISD. After moving to Denison, she was active in PTA for Hughes Junior High School, Houston Elementary School and Denison High School. She was deeply devoted to her husband. She cared for him at home for more than 25 years, until his death in 1996. She faithfully served her church in a variety of roles, including serving on the finance committee, writing a column for the church newsletter and assisting with church decorations for holidays and special occasions. She also loved helping to prepare for the Wednesday night meal and going on trips with her senior friends. Her interests were wide and varied, and there was constantly a project in process. She was much loved by her family, church family and friends and will be profoundly missed. She is survived by sons Gary Layne Holliday and wife Martha of Denison and Paul Douglas Holliday and wife Rhonda of Sherman; grandsons Keil, Kevin, Brinson and wife Erin; one great-grandson due in August. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Frances Owens. Memorials may be made to I Love My Church, First Baptist Church, Denison. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home.
