D. D. "Slim" Jordan 8 August 1925 - 25 May 1999 Martha Greene Jordan 12 January 1928 - 19 March 2010 Herald Democrat March 23, 2010 DENISON - Martha J. (Greene) Jordan, 82, passed on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Carrus Specialty Hospital in Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery Chapel, 1501 S.H. 91 North, Denison. Visitation for Mrs. Jordan will be held one hour prior to the service at the cemetery chapel. Martha was born on Jan. 12, 1928 in Sherman, the daughter of John and Lucille (Vestal) Greene. She married D.D. "Slim" Jordan of McKinney on Aug. 30, 1947. She attended Austin College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Chi sorority. After graduation with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, she taught grade school in Denison at the Golden Rule and Hyde Park Schools. She later received her master's degree from East Texas State University in Library Science and was the librarian at Denison Junior High School until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Slim; parents, John and Lucille; sister, Mariann McFadden (Joe) of Montgomery, Ala. Martha is survived by her son, John and daughter-in-law Virginia Jordan of LaJara, Colo.; her grandchildren, John David of Telluride, Colo., Clay of Denver, Colo. and Kristen of Ft. Collins, Colo.; sister, Betty Paul of Brentwood, Calif. Martha lived a rich, active life. She was a voracious reader and bridge player. She was a master gardener who could and did grow anything. She was a sports fan who played tennis into her 70s and was a member of Camp Sandy Point on Lake Texoma. Most important to her, she loved her family and was devoted to the many friends she and her husband Slim made in Denison through the years. Martha was a member of Waples Memorial United Methodist Church in Denison. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St, Denison.
