Ex-Denison Youth Dies as Result of Shot Fired From Pistol

LeRoy R. Stinson, Jr, 12 year-old former Denisonian, who had been making his home during the last few months with his grandmother, Mrs. J. D.. Minnear, at Dallas, died at the Dallas Methodist Hospital, Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock of a wound accidentally inflicted by a pistol in the hands of Paul Veach 11, which the youths were playing at the home of the latter Thursday.
With a bullet wound through his right jaw, the youth was taken to the hospital where he later rallied and the physicians held some hope of his recovery.  The youths believed the pistol was unloaded.  When he raised the weapon, it suddenly "went off", young Veach tearfully explained.
LeRoy was born in Denison and after the death of his mother made his home with his grandparents, Mr.. & Mrs. J. D. Minnear, 812 W. Owings Street, until his grandfather's death recently, when the family moved to Dallas. The youth was a student at Central Ward School here.
Surviving are his father L. R. Stinson who is employed at Fort Worth, two brothers, John B. and Jefferson D. Stinson; a sister, Nellie Stinson, all of Dallas and two grandmothers, Mrs. Minnear of Dallas and Mrs.. J. B. Stinson, 813 S. Travis, Denison.
Brief services were held at Dallas this afternoon, after which the body left by rail for Denison.  Final rites will be held at George Shields Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock with Rev. J. F. Merrell officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
